Free, one-day Cover Supervisor training in Warrington

Cover supervisor training course promotion

Vision for Education’s Cheshire branch is offering ten aspiring teachers in the North West free training, to provide them with the skills they need to work as Cover Supervisors in local secondary schools.

The one-day Cover Supervisor training course, which takes place on Wednesday 6th December 2017, from 9am to 3pm, at Great Sankey High School in Warrington, is aimed at school support staff who are looking to progress in their career and take the lead the classroom.

It’s also suitable for graduates who are looking to gain valuable skills and experience, to help them secure a place on a teacher training course.

Cover Supervisors provide short-term cover when the regular teacher is absent – they do not need to have a formal teaching qualification. They deliver pre-set work for a variety of subjects, ensuring that students remain on task with the work they have been set.

Trainees will get the chance to put their training into practice after completing the short course, by joining Vision for Education’s supply pool, which provides day-to-day cover for secondary schools across Cheshire, Lancashire and Liverpool.

Hayley Fenlon, Branch Manager at Vision for Education’s Warrington office, said: “There has been a big increase in the demand for Cover Supervisors in the local area, so trainees will get the chance to start working as soon as they have completed the course and gain the valuable experience they need to become teachers.”

Great Sankey High School has been awarded National Teaching School status by the National College for Teaching and Learning. The Cover Supervisor training course has been developed exclusively for Vision for Education, and will be delivered from their site on Barrow Hall Lane, Great Sankey, Warrington WA5 3AA.

Applicants must have a honours degree (2:2 or above), or equivalent qualification, and their own transport, and will need to go through the necessary clearance checks. Experience of working with young people is desirable, but this does not have to be in a school setting.

The closing date for applications is Friday 1 December 2017. To apply for the free training course, or for more information, please get in touch with Vision for Education’s Cheshire branch on 01925 648 131 or email
