The Role

We are seeking a reliable, practical, and proactive Caretaker to join our team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining the school site, ensuring it is safe, secure, clean, and well-maintained for pupils, staff, and visitors.

The postholder will live on-site to fulfil the unsociable aspects of the role, including emergency callouts and out-of-hours security.

Key Responsibilities

• Overseeing the safety, maintenance, cleanliness and security of the school site
• Managing contractors, coordinating health and safety matters, ensuring effective fire evacuation procedures, and overseeing fixed-term projects for maintenance and increasing pupil capacity

About You

• Previous caretaking, maintenance, or site management experience is required for this role
• Previous caretaker experience in a school setting would be advantageous
• Practical, hands-on approach with good problem-solving skills
• Understanding of, or willingness to work within, an SEN school environment
• Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work independently
• Good communication skills and a positive, flexible attitude
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
