Education Support Worker – Mainstream School, Lancaster
Pay: £400 - £475 per week (subject to qualifications and experience)
Start Date: September 2025

Vision for Education is seeking to appoint a compassionate and committed Education Support Worker to work in a mainstream secondary school in Lancaster. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people to thrive in education.

About the role

As an Education Support Worker, you will work closely with students aged 11–16 who may require additional support with behaviour, emotional wellbeing, or accessing learning in the classroom.

You will assist students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, helping them to stay engaged in lessons, manage their emotions, and build positive relationships with peers and staff. This role is ideal for someone who wants to make a real impact in the lives of young people and support their development both academically and personally.

About the school

The school is a welcoming and inclusive mainstream secondary school with a strong commitment to pastoral care. Staff work collaboratively to ensure every student is supported to reach their potential, regardless of their background or personal challenges.

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
There is potential for the position to become permanent following a successful trial period.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of Education Support Worker, you will:

  • Be patient, understanding, and resilient

  • Demonstrate a genuine interest in supporting young people’s wellbeing and development

  • Be confident in working with students who may display low-level disruptive behaviour or face barriers to learning

  • Ideally have experience in an education, care, or youth work setting

  • A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential

You must also be willing to undertake an Enhanced DBS check (registered on the Update Service or willing to apply) and provide full referencing.
