Salary: £95-£110
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only (plus INSET days where required)
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join a secondary school in Swadlincote. This is a full-time position supporting students across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping them to access the curriculum and reach their full potential.
You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to provide tailored assistance to students with a range of learning needs, including Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for students in lessons
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
- Support students with additional needs, including behavioural, emotional, and academic challenges
- Help adapt learning materials to suit individual needs
- Encourage student independence and confidence
- Monitor and record student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
- Support classroom management and maintain a positive learning environment
- Supervise students during break times or school activities where required
Person Specification
Essential:
- Experience working with children or young people (preferably in an educational setting)
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and a supportive approach
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills (GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths)
Desirable:
- Experience supporting students with SEND
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent)
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures
- Experience in behaviour management strategies
