About the role

Sports Graduate Teaching Assistant – Monmouth
Full-time, term-time position available

Are you a sports graduate or active, energetic individual looking to begin a rewarding career in education? Vision for Education is recruiting a motivated and adaptable Sports Graduate Teaching Assistant to join a specialist education setting in Monmouth, supporting pupils aged 7 to 16 with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), including ASD, ADHD and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

This exciting opportunity is ideal for someone who is resilient, reflective and passionate about being a positive role model. You will work closely with pupils in the classroom and across a wide range of enrichment and physical activities, helping to create engaging, structured and positive learning experiences every day.

Your role will focus on supporting learning, emotional regulation, communication skills and personal development through active and practical approaches. Activities may include football, basketball, pickleball, badminton, forest school sessions, creative play and other enrichment opportunities.

You will be joining a provision that delivers a broad and balanced curriculum aligned to the Curriculum for Wales, with wellbeing, resilience and trust at the heart of its ethos. The setting also benefits from on-site therapeutic forest school provision, art and creative play therapy, and access to off-site vocational pathways such as construction, hair and beauty, and small animal care.

About the role

As a Sports Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils aged 7 to 16 with a range of additional learning needs through both classroom-based learning and physical, outdoor and enrichment activities. You will play a key role in helping pupils build confidence, regulate emotions and develop positive relationships in a safe and supportive environment.

This is a varied and highly fulfilling position where every day brings new challenges and opportunities to make a real difference.

Your key responsibilities

• Support pupils in the classroom and during sports, enrichment and outdoor activities
• Promote emotional regulation, communication skills and positive behaviour
• Encourage independence and personal development through active learning
• Help plan and deliver engaging physical and enrichment activities
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
• Work closely with teachers, therapists and wider support teams
• Promote a safe, inclusive and respectful learning environment

Who we’re looking for

• A degree in Sports Science, Physical Education or a related subject, or strong experience in sport or physical activity
• A genuine interest in supporting children and young people with ALN or SEMH needs
• An energetic, resilient and adaptable individual
• Strong communication skills and a positive, proactive attitude
• Empathy, patience and confidence in managing behaviour in a nurturing way
• Commitment to professional development and inclusive education
• Right to work in the UK and a full UK driving licence

What we offer

As a Sports Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will receive:

• Competitive daily pay, depending on experience
• Full-time, term-time hours
• Flexible start and finish times
• Comprehensive induction and ongoing training
• Clear career progression opportunities within education
• Paid enhanced DBS
• Wellbeing support
• Cycle to work scheme
• Access to a reward and discount scheme and Blue Light Card eligibility
• Ongoing support from a dedicated education consultant
