SEN Teaching Assistant – Long-term Opportunity in Newcastle-under-Lyme

Vision for Education are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a welcoming school in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

About the Role

As an SEN teaching assistant, you will:

  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support pupils with ASD
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support tailored to individual needs
  • Support pupils with engagement, communication, and emotional regulation
  • Assist in implementing structured routines and behaviour strategies
  • Adapt learning activities to support different abilities and learning styles
  • Help create a safe, consistent, and inclusive learning environment

This SEN teaching assistant role is a full-time, long-term opportunity in Newcastle-under-Lyme, with potential for a permanent position.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of SEN teaching assistant, you will:

  • Have experience supporting children with SEN, particularly ASD
  • Be confident supporting behaviour and promoting positive outcomes
  • Have a patient, calm, and adaptable approach
  • Possess a DBS registered on the Update Service (or be willing to obtain one)
  • Be committed to supporting pupils with additional needs
  • Have experience working with children of primary or secondary age
