The School and Role
A school in Irlam is seeking a compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant to work within a supportive primary school in Irlam, starting September 2026.
In this role, you will support children with high levels of additional need, helping them to feel safe, engaged, and supported throughout the school day. Working closely with experienced teachers and pastoral staff, you will provide tailored support to pupils who may require help with emotional regulation, wellbeing, and accessing learning within the classroom environment. Responsibilities will include supporting individuals or small groups, promoting positive behaviour strategies, and helping to create a calm and nurturing learning space.
The school would particularly welcome applicants with experience in residential care, mental health and wellbeing support, or those with a genuine passion for helping children who need additional emotional and behavioural support. This role is ideal for someone patient, empathetic, and committed to making a positive impact on pupils’ confidence, development, and daily school experience.

Requirements
To apply for this Teaching Assistant role in Irlam, Salford you should have:
- Previous experience supporting pupils in a residential, youth, support, primary school or educational setting, and/or a relevant qualifications.
- A genuine interest in supporting children’s learning and development.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills when working with pupils, staff, and families.
- Confidence assisting with individual and small-group learning activities, including supporting different learning needs.
- A positive, adaptable attitude and the ability to contribute effectively within a classroom team.
