Make a real difference every day - join our North Bristol primary school as an SEMH Teaching Assistant!

About the role

SEMH Teaching Assistant | North Bristol (Primary School) – Full-Time/Part-Time

Are you passionate about making a difference for children who face emotional, social, or behavioural challenges? Our North Bristol primary school is looking for caring and patient SEMH Teaching Assistants to join a dedicated team supporting pupils with SEMH needs, ACEs, and complex trauma backgrounds.

We are a school that puts wellbeing, inclusion, and trauma-informed practice at the heart of everything we do. You’ll help create a safe, nurturing environment where every child feels understood, supported, and able to thrive.

What You’ll Do:

  • Work 1:1 or in small groups to support pupils with SEMH needs
  • Assist with structured learning activities, daily routines, and emotional regulation strategies
  • Use trauma-informed approaches to support pupils’ emotional wellbeing and social development
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to deliver personalised support plans
  • Build trusting, positive relationships with pupils and staff

We’re Looking For:

  • Patient, empathetic, and calm under pressure
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with SEMH and ACEs
  • Willingness to learn and use trauma-informed practices
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Enhanced DBS (or willing to obtain)

What We Offer:

  • Full-time or part-time roles in a supportive North Bristol primary school
  • Training and guidance in SEMH, trauma-informed approaches, and behaviour support
  • Weekly PAYE pay and competitive rates
  • Experience in a school with a strong focus on inclusion and emotional wellbeing
  • Opportunities for long-term roles and professional development

Join us as an SEMH Teaching Assistant and help children overcome challenges, build resilience, and achieve their potential in a nurturing, trauma-informed environment.
