Contract: Full-time / Long-term

Pay Rate: £92.56 - £105.56 per day (dependent on experience)

Vision for Education is currently recruiting for a compassionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic Learning Support Worker to join a welcoming and inclusive 3–19 special educational needs school in Newport, South Wales. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about supporting children and young people with additional learning needs (ALN) and making a real difference in education.

About the Role

As a Learning Support Worker in Newport, you will work alongside teachers and specialist staff to provide tailored support for pupils with a range of special educational needs (SEN) and additional learning needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and complex learning needs.

You will play a vital role in helping pupils achieve their academic potential while supporting their emotional, social, and personal development in a safe, nurturing, and inclusive school environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group learning support to pupils
  • Support children with a variety of SEN and ALN needs
  • Assist the class teacher with lesson delivery, classroom activities, and behaviour management
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and emotional wellbeing in learners
  • Follow Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and safeguarding procedures
  • Provide personal care support where required

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN/ALN is desirable
  • A patient, caring, and resilient attitude
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2/3, Learning Support, SEN, Childcare, or equivalent are advantageous
