The School and Role

We are working with a fantastic Secondary School with Sixth Form who are seeking a motivated Head of Science. Based in the outer London borough of Havering, this Sixth Form offers Outer London Pay Harris Allowance. The school is looking for a dynamic Head of Science to join an established department of 5 teachers, who can lead, support and mentor other members of staff.

As a Head of Science, you will be responsible for managing and developing the Science curriculum, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning, and promoting a culture of high expectation and continuous professional development.

This is a permanent Head of Science position, starting in September 2026. Applicants must have valid UK QTS and at least 3 years teaching experience is desirable. We are pleased to be a part of an elite group of agencies who have a preferred supplier agreement with Harris schools across the UK.

Requirements

The desired Head of Science will be able to;

  • Lead, manage, and support the Science department, ensuring the highest quality of teaching and learning.
  • Develop, review, and improve the Science curriculum to ensure it meets the needs of students and aligns with school goals.
  • Build strong relationships with students, parents, and staff, and support the pastoral needs of students.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring targets are met and all students are supported to achieve their full potential.
