3 reasons why you should move to the UK
share

Moving abroad is a life-changing experience. Yet, it is a big decision to make. It’s exciting and daunting all at the same time. To help you decide if it’s the move for you, here are three great reasons why you should take the plunge…

  1. Generous school holidays

Getting away to explore the UK, Europe and beyond during the UK school holidays could not be easier. With an average of 13 weeks holidays each year, which usually consists of six weeks over the summer, two weeks at Christmas, two weeks at Easter and a week ‘half-term’ in October, February and May, you’ll have plenty of time to make memories for life. Schools often organise trips abroad for students that supervising teaching and support staff can enjoy too, for example, ski trips to the Alps, geography trips to Iceland and sports tournaments or music trips across Europe. Outside of school, in the summer, you may also want to take advantage of some classic English events such as watching tennis at Wimbledon, attending Glastonbury festival, enjoying a premier league match or watching the Ashes.

  1. Rewarding work

Aside from the plentiful holidays, working in education in the UK can be very rewarding. Managing boisterous yet caring characters can make you laugh daily, and you can find your closest friendships with other staff in schools. However, it doesn’t come without its challenges. A typical class size is around 30 pupils, where you can have a range of behaviours to manage that will test your skills and abilities. But if you are ready to learn and grow as an educator, the feeling you will get when completing a day at school having overcome the challenges, learnt more about behaviour management, and learnt more about yourself, will make it all worth it.

  1. Beautiful scenery

You may be surprised to find that travelling within the UK itself can offer up some of the most beautiful scenery. For example, Rhosilli, located on the Gower Peninsular in Wales is amongst the top 10 most photographed sunsets in the world and one of the top 10 beaches in Europe. Across the UK, you’ll find stunning scenery from Porthcurno beach in Cornwall to Bamburgh Castle in Northumberland, from Durdle Door in Dorset to Lake Windermere in the Lake District. And if a city trip is more your thing, Bath, Cambridge and York, to name a few, are equally beautiful places to visit too.

The experiences and opportunities that await you both personally and professionally are vast and varied. Here at Edwin Education, we love supporting people to fulfil their travelling dreams because you only have one life, and we want to help you make the most of it.
