Youth Worker Withing SEN Schools, Swindon

We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Youth Worker to join a vibrant and inclusive SEN school in Swindon. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people with additional needs, helping them develop confidence, communication skills, independence, and emotional resilience.

The Role

As a Youth Worker in this specialist school setting, you will:

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils aged 5–19 with a range of needs, including ASD, SLD, SEMH, communication difficulties, and complex learning needs.

  • Support students with emotional regulation, social skills, behaviour management, and engagement in learning.

  • Provide 1:1 mentoring, pastoral support, and small-group interventions.

  • Promote independence, life skills, and personal development both in and outside the classroom.

  • Respond calmly and flexibly to changes in behaviour, emotional needs, or routine.

  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral leads, therapists, and families.

  • Assist with personal care or moving and handling where required (training can be provided).

  • Small class groups with high levels of staff support.

  • A structured yet nurturing environment designed to support communication, social development, and independence.

  • A curriculum that balances academic learning with life skills, community engagement, and practical development.

  • Access to specialist therapy teams, including speech and language, occupational therapy, and pastoral support.

  • A friendly, dedicated staff team who work collaboratively to help every pupil thrive.

The school is easily accessible from Highworth, Wroughton, Royal Wootton Bassett, Purton, and surrounding areas.

Requirements

To be considered for the Youth Worker role, you will:

  • Have a genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs.

  • Be calm, patient, and empathetic.

  • Have experience working with children or young people (formal or informal).

  • Be confident supporting behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and social development.

  • Be comfortable assisting with personal care if required.

  • Have experience or an understanding of SEN such as ASD, SLD, PMLD, or SEMH.

  • Have your own transport (desirable).

  • Hold a DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.

  • Be open to ongoing CPD and professional development.

Salary

£88.92-£91 per day, dependent on qualifications, training, and experience.

  • Excellent weekly pay via PAYE.

  • Guaranteed Pay Scheme (subject to criteria).

  • Full AWR compliance for fair pay and conditions.

  • A generous refer-a-friend bonus.

  • Continuous support from a dedicated consultant.
