Vision for Education's specialist SEND department are recruiting for a Young Offenders Support Worker to work specifically 1:1 with school aged children.

About the role

As a Young Offenders Support Worker, you will be providing support and building relationships with the pupils at the school by providing emotional consistency to allow pupils to feel safe and supported in the school community. You will aim to encourage and enthuse the pupils to participate in all school activities to their best abilities and provide them with positive reinforcement to increase their confidence.

About the school

The environment in which you will be working is in a Special School in Wakefield, West Yorkshire that caters for children between the ages of 5 to 16 with speech, language and communication difficulties, autism, ADHD, Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties.

The family orientated school provides a safe space for pupils to develop a range of skills that create a strong foundation for adulthood. The schools aim is to foster and nurture resilience and teach the skills children need to manage the children's own mental health.

They strive to engage our pupils in learning in a fun and interactive way to ensure they all achieve the best possible outcomes. The curriculum is specified, balanced, and ambitious in order to support the needs of their pupils.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of Young Offenders Support Worker - Wakefield you will:
  • Have a genuine desire to become part of a committed team of school staff
  • Be willing to undergo a DBS check
  • Be available full-time, Monday to Friday 08:30am -16:30pm

Salary

£80 to £112 per day

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
  • recent experience obtained within the last 2 years, of working with children or young people, ideally within a school, nursery, childcare, youth work, play or care setting. We must be able to obtain references from these roles.
