Transition Teacher - East Riding of Yorkshire

Location: East Riding of Yorkshire
Start Date: September 2026
Salary: MPS1–UPS3 (£30,000 – £46,525 per annum, dependent on experience)

The Role
Vision for Education are working in partnership with a welcoming secondary school in the East Riding of Yorkshire to appoint a dedicated and compassionate Teacher of Adapted Curriculum. This is a full-time, permanent position starting in September 2026.

This role focuses on delivering targeted intervention and an adapted curriculum to small groups of students, supporting their transition from primary school into Year 7. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping students build confidence, strengthen core literacy and numeracy skills, and successfully access learning within the secondary curriculum.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver tailored lessons to small intervention groups focused on transition into Year 7
  • Adapt learning content to meet the needs of students requiring additional support in literacy and numeracy
  • Assess, track, and report on student progress, using this to inform next steps in learning
  • Work closely with SENCOs, pastoral teams, and subject staff to support student outcomes
  • Develop positive, supportive relationships with students to promote engagement and confidence
  • Contribute to transition programmes and liaise with feeder primary schools where appropriate

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience working with students requiring additional support, ideally across KS2/KS3 transition
  • Strong understanding of differentiation and adaptive teaching strategies
  • A passion for supporting vulnerable or lower-attaining learners to achieve success
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and classroom management skills
