About the role

Trainee Teaching Assistant – Newport
Start date: September 2025 (with trial days available before the summer holidays)

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young learners? Looking to take your first step into a meaningful and rewarding career in education? We’re offering an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team across schools in Newport.

This role is ideal for individuals keen to gain hands-on experience in alternative provision settings, working closely with children who face challenges related to social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH), ADHD, and anxiety.

Your Role

  • Supporting pupils in both group and one-to-one settings, with a strong focus on emotional regulation and positive behaviour

  • Creating a warm and inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued, safe, and encouraged to thrive

  • Gaining practical experience supporting learners with additional needs including SEMH, ADHD, and anxiety-related difficulties

  • Assisting in the implementation of strategies that promote personal growth and academic progress

  • Building positive, consistent relationships with pupils, colleagues, and families

  • Encouraging emotional literacy, communication, and social development

What We’re Looking For

  • A genuine passion for helping children with additional learning or behavioural needs

  • Empathy, patience, and the ability to build trust with young people

  • A positive and proactive approach, with a commitment to supporting pupils’ individual journeys

  • Strong communication skills and a caring, professional attitude

  • A clear interest in pursuing a long-term career in SEND or alternative education

  • Availability Monday to Friday, 8.30 am to 3.30 pm

  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC), or willingness to register – we’ll support you through the process

What You’ll Receive

  • Competitive daily pay from £88.92 to £101.92, paid weekly without any hidden deductions

  • Ongoing support from an experienced consultant throughout your placement

  • Free access to accredited professional development courses, including ADHD, SEMH, safeguarding, and behaviour management

  • Pension contributions to support your long-term future

  • Recognition and appreciation for the important work you do

If you're ready to make a difference and build a career with purpose, we’d love to hear from you. Apply now to become a Trainee Teaching Assistant in Newport and begin your journey with us.
