Vision for Education are seeking a dedicated and reliable HLTA (High Level Teaching Assistant) to work within SEND schools, supporting students to achieve their academic and personal goals.

The role -

  • Lead whole-class learning activities and deliver lessons in the absence of the teacher.
  • Support teachers in planning, preparing, and adapting learning activities to meet pupil needs.
  • Provide targeted interventions to support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Work confidently with pupils with SEND, adapting approaches to promote inclusion and engagement.
  • Monitor, assess, and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents where appropriate.
  • Promote positive behaviour management strategies and maintain a calm, supportive learning environment.
  • Build strong relationships with pupils to encourage confidence, independence, and motivation.
  • Support pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups across a range of subjects.
  • Deliver structured interventions in literacy, numeracy, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of EHCP targets and personalised learning plans.
  • Encourage active participation and differentiated learning opportunities for all pupils.
  • Support classroom organisation, resource preparation, and effective learning environments.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and external professionals.
  • Lead extracurricular activities, sports sessions, or enrichment programmes to support wider development.
  • Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusion in all aspects of school life.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills within a school setting.

About you:

To be considered for the HLTA role, you will:

  • Hold suitable qualifications such as Youth Work, Health and Social Care or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools are desired but not essential.
  • Have strong communications skills with the ability to quickly build rapport with students
  • Able to obtain suitable references and a DBS check.
