The school –

  • A school located in central Birmingham, with easy access via public transport
  • Pupils aged 11-16
  • A supportive and welcoming school environment, ensuring the pupils needs are always met academically, socially and emotionally

The role -

  • Use sport and movement to help develop confidence, teamwork, communication, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Adapt activities to suit individual learning needs and abilities.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, resilience, and participation through active learning approaches.
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with pupils to promote trust and motivation.
  • Assist teachers in delivering creative and differentiated lessons across the curriculum.
  • Promote healthy lifestyles, physical fitness, and positive social interaction.
  • Support pupils with sensory, behavioural, and communication needs in both classroom and outdoor settings.
  • Help pupils develop fine and gross motor skills through sport-based interventions and activities.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and parents to support pupil progress and wellbeing.
  • Supervise and support pupils during breaktimes, educational visits, and extracurricular sports activities.
  • Create a safe, encouraging, and inclusive environment where every pupil can succeed.
  • Use enthusiasm for sport to engage reluctant learners and increase participation in school life.

About you:

To be considered for the Teaching Assistant role, you will:

  • Hold suitable qualifications such as Youth Work, Health and Social Care or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools are desired but not essential.
  • Have strong communications skills with the ability to quickly build rapport with students
  • Able to obtain suitable references and a DBS check.
