Vision for Education are working in partnership with a specialist school in Torfaen, seeking a caring, resilient and motivated Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team. Opportunities are available for both flexible day-to-day supply work and long-term, full-time placements.

The school supports pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and a range of additional learning needs (ALN). Many pupils may also present with ADHD, sensory processing difficulties, learning disabilities, anxiety, mood disorders, disruptive behaviour disorders, Tourette syndrome, epilepsy, and associated needs.

The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience supporting children or young people with Autism, PMLD, or additional learning needs. However, attitude and personality are equally important. The school values individuals who are patient, empathetic, proactive, and passionate about making a positive difference in education.

You should feel confident supporting pupils with communication needs, emotional regulation, sensory support, mobility assistance, personal care, feeding, toileting, and classroom engagement. The ability to remain calm and positive when managing challenging behaviour is essential.

Whilst working within a specialist setting can be demanding, the smaller class sizes allow staff to build strong, meaningful relationships with pupils and provide tailored support that genuinely changes lives.
