Are you looking for a rewarding Teaching Assistant role in Whitley Bay? Do you have a passion for supporting children with additional needs and making a meaningful difference in their education?

Vision for Education is currently recruiting a dedicated Teaching Assistant to work across SEND provisions in Whitley Bay, supporting pupils with a range of needs including Autism (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), and other learning difficulties.

This is an excellent opportunity to work in supportive, well-resourced environments where staff work collaboratively to provide inclusive, structured, and nurturing education. You will play a key role in helping pupils engage with learning, develop emotional regulation, and build confidence both academically and socially.

The Role

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Assisting with the delivery of tailored learning activities
  • Promoting engagement, independence, and positive behaviour
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and wellbeing
  • Working closely with teachers and SENCOs to implement support strategies

The Ideal Teaching Assistant Will Have:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND, particularly ASC or SEMH
  • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach to supporting complex needs
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • The ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • A proactive and adaptable approach within the classroom
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
