Teaching Assistant – Diverse SEN School

We’re recruiting a full-time Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant and inclusive SEN school in the BS30 area. This is a long-term role supporting pupils from primary age through to post-16, all with a wide range of additional and complex needs. If you’re someone who brings patience, curiosity and genuine compassion to your work, this school will welcome you warmly. Access to a car is helpful due to the school’s location.
The school supports learners with autism, learning difficulties, communication needs, sensory processing differences and behaviours that can arise from complex experiences. Every day brings something different, and the right person will find the role deeply meaningful.
We’re looking for a Teaching Assistant who:

Is calm, open-minded and able to adjust quickly to different situations

Has the resilience needed to support pupils with high and varied levels of need

Understands, or is keen to learn how to support communication, sensory needs and emotional regulation

Builds strong, trusting relationships with pupils who rely on consistency

Works positively with teachers, therapists and wider school staff

Can stay upbeat, even when faced with challenging behaviour

Breaks down tasks, adapts learning and provides personalised support

Has a solid understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries

Wants a long-term position where they can see progress over time
