Primary Teaching Assistant – Gloucester
Full-time | Term-time | Supply & Long-term roles available
We are looking for a dedicated and nurturing Teaching Assistant to support primary-aged pupils across friendly and welcoming schools in Gloucester. Whether you’re providing general classroom support, small-group work, or 1:1 assistance for a child with additional needs, you’ll play a key role in helping every pupil feel understood, included, and ready to learn.
This is a chance to make a genuine impact — becoming the calm, consistent adult a child can rely on when the day feels challenging. With your guidance, their classroom can become a place of confidence, joy, and small daily victories.
What we’re looking for:
• A patient, compassionate, and child-centred approach
• Experience working with children (school, care, youth work, sports coaching, or similar)
• Confidence supporting learning in EYFS, KS1 or KS2
• Ability to build trusting relationships and follow teacher guidance
• Calmness under pressure and a willingness to adapt
• Understanding of SEND, behaviour needs, or emotional regulation (desirable but not essential)
Role Requirements:
• Full-time availability during school hours (term-time only)
• Able to work with pupils 1:1, in small groups, or within the classroom
• Comfortable following school safeguarding and behaviour policies
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
• Right to work in the UK
Why Apply:
• Competitive daily pay, paid weekly
• Opportunities for both supply and long-term placements
• Supportive schools across Gloucester and nearby areas
• Access to CPD — behaviour, SEN, de-escalation, classroom support
• A dedicated consultant who listens, understands, and places you where you’ll thrive
• The chance to try different settings before committing long-term
If you’re ready to make a meaningful difference in a primary school setting — supporting children who need patience, encouragement, and a steady hand — we’d love to hear from you.
Apply today and take the first step towards shaping a child’s school journey.
