JOB ROLE: *Teacher of SEND* LOCATION: *Gateshead (Full Time)* SALARY: *£115-140 per day - Pre AWR (salary is depending on experience and/or qualifications)* DATE: *May 2024 – onwards*

About the role

This 'Good' SEND Alternative Provision, based in Hexham, supports children and young people aged 11-16 and is looking to appoint a passionate Teacher of SEND to teach Key Stage 3 and 4 classes on a full-time basis. Working in this Secondary SEND Alternative Provision as part of an established team, the desired Teacher of SEND will be working on a small class sized basis with pupils with various additional needs and abilities. This full time Teacher of SEND role is long term from April 2024 ongoing with the possibility of a permanent vacancy for the right person.

The desired Teacher of SEND must have experience of working within a Science department and be comfortable teaching Science at Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4). The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and teaching engaging lessons to pupils in KS3 and KS4. Although schemes of work are in place, the successful teacher will be given autonomy to amend lesson plans for the benefit of pupils. The desired Teacher of SEND will have previous experience of teaching children with additional needs.

Requirements

The Teacher of SEND will have;

  • Experience of working with primary or secondary school aged children.
  • Experience of working with pupils with SEND.
  • A passion for the progress of SEND secondary pupils.
  • An ability to work as part of a team.
