Vision for Education are proud to be working in partnership with a highly desirable secondary school in Blackburn to recruit a Teacher of Science for a permanent position.

About the role

This exciting role will consist of teaching all sciences across Key Stage 3 and GCSE classes and it is desirable that the successful candidate can teach Physics at Key Stage 5. You will be joining an experienced, welcoming, and supportive science department.

The main purpose of the role is to impact positively on student achievement and attainment through planning and delivering high quality lessons.

The school has strong budgets that allow experimental classroom practice, and they also provide modern learning facilities. Students at the school are eager to learn and well behaved.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of Teacher of Science you will:
  • PGCE (or equivalent) with QTS/QTLS is essential
  • Recent experience of teaching the current British national curriculum in schools
  • Be a strong practitioner with proven experience of teaching all sciences to GCSE
  • Confident with assessment and reporting
  • Be an excellent role model to students

Key responsibilities

As Teacher of Science you will be responsible for:
  • Plan teaching to achieve good or better progress in student learning
  • Use data and assessment information to inform planning
  • Set high expectations of student behaviour and develop positive relationships with both learners and colleagues
  • Collaborate with other departmental members to develop schemes of work

Salary

£25,714 to £36,961 per year

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
  • QTS/QTLS and recent/relevant experience teaching science
