About the Role & School

Vision for Education is currently recruiting on behalf of a specialist alternative provision that supports children and young people who are permanently excluded, at risk of exclusion, or unable to attend school due to medical needs.

The provision is committed to helping pupils re-engage with learning through a nurturing, trauma-informed approach that focuses on creating positive relationships, improving wellbeing, and supporting successful reintegration into mainstream education wherever possible.

This is a unique opportunity to join a dedicated and highly supportive team that is passionate about inclusive education and achieving positive outcomes for vulnerable learners. Staff benefit from excellent CPD opportunities and ongoing leadership development.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Teacher in Charge – Primary to lead the primary provision, supporting pupils across EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

This is an exciting leadership opportunity for an outstanding practitioner who is passionate about inclusive education and making a meaningful difference to children with SEND, SEMH needs, and barriers to mainstream education.

The successful candidate will provide strategic and operational leadership for the primary provision while maintaining a teaching commitment of approximately 50%, enabling them to model exceptional classroom practice and support the development of the wider staff team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and operational oversight of the primary provision.
  • Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for the primary phase.
  • Line manage, coach, and support staff to maintain high standards of teaching, behaviour, and inclusion.
  • Develop and implement an ambitious, accessible, and inclusive curriculum.
  • Lead high-quality SEND, SEMH, and trauma-informed practice.
  • Monitor behaviour, attendance, engagement, and pupil progress.
  • Use data effectively to inform provision, interventions, and staff development.
  • Lead admissions, transitions, and reintegration for primary pupils.
  • Build strong partnerships with families, schools, and external agencies.
  • Contribute to school improvement and wider organisational development.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of Teacher in Charge – Primary, you will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS).
  • Have significant experience working with pupils with SEND and SEMH needs.
  • Have experience in alternative provision or specialist settings.
  • Be an excellent classroom practitioner with strong inclusive teaching skills.
  • Demonstrate effective leadership and staff development experience.
  • Have strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
  • Be confident using relational and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Be data-informed, reflective, and committed to continuous improvement.
  • Be passionate about safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.

Leadership experience, curriculum responsibility, and experience of reintegration work are highly desirable.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, and qualifications.
