About the role

Sports Teaching Assistant – Monmouth

Are you an energetic and adaptable individual who thrives on variety and enjoys being active? A specialist education setting in Monmouth is recruiting a Sports Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and dynamic education team, working with pupils aged 7–16 with Additional Learning Needs, including ASD, ADHD and SEMH.

This role is ideal for someone who is resilient, reflective and passionate about being a positive role model. You will work closely with students in the classroom and across a wide range of enrichment and physical activities, helping to create positive, engaging learning experiences every day.

Your role will involve supporting learning, emotional regulation, communication skills and personal development through active and practical approaches. Activities may include football, basketball, pickleball, badminton, forest school sessions, creative play and other enrichment opportunities.

You will be joining a provision that delivers a broad and balanced curriculum aligned to the Curriculum for Wales. Building trust, resilience and wellbeing sits at the heart of the school’s ethos. The setting benefits from on-site therapeutic forest school provision, art and creative play therapy, and access to off-site vocational pathways such as construction, hair and beauty, and small animal care.

What we are looking for

We are seeking a Sports Teaching Assistant who is dynamic, adaptable and confident in an active school environment. You should demonstrate empathy, patience and resilience, and have a genuine interest in supporting young people with additional learning needs or social, emotional and mental health needs. Strong communication skills, a positive attitude and a commitment to professional development are essential. All candidates must have the right to work in the UK and hold a full UK driving licence.

What we offer

This role offers flexible start and finish times, a comprehensive induction and ongoing training, and clear career progression opportunities within education. Additional benefits include paid enhanced DBS, wellbeing support, cycle to work scheme, exclusive access to a reward and discount scheme and Blue Light Card eligibility.

You will be part of a supportive and collaborative working environment where transferable skills and life experience are valued. Full training and development are provided, making this an excellent opportunity for individuals considering a long-term career in education or specialist support roles.

Safeguarding and application details

All applicants must be willing to undergo safeguarding screening appropriate to the role, including an enhanced DBS check and at least two references covering the last three years. References may be requested prior to interview. Interviews may take place before the closing date, so early applications are encouraged.

If you are passionate about using sport and physical activity to support young people and want to build a rewarding career in education, apply today for the Sports Teaching Assistant role in Monmouth.
