This is a rewarding opportunity for a teacher who is committed to creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing learning environment for children with social, emotional, and menta

About the role

About the Role

As an SEMH Teacher, you’ll deliver creative, differentiated lessons designed to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of every learner.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging, accessible lessons across a broad curriculum.

  • Embedding trauma-informed and attachment-aware approaches in all aspects of teaching and classroom management.

  • Creating a calm, structured learning environment where pupils feel safe, valued, and motivated.

  • Managing behaviour using positive reinforcement and de-escalation strategies.

  • Working closely with teaching assistants, SENCOs, and therapeutic staff to deliver personalised support plans.

  • Tracking progress and celebrating every success — academic or personal.

This role is likely to become permanent for the right candidate.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm, term time only.

About You

The ideal candidate will be:

  • A qualified teacher (QTS/QTLS) with experience teaching in an SEMH, PRU, or alternative provision setting.

  • Knowledgeable in trauma-informed and restorative practices.

  • Skilled in differentiating learning and adapting approaches to meet a wide range of needs.

  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient, with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

  • Passionate about creating inclusive, empowering learning experiences that promote emotional growth and academic progress.

Experience teaching pupils with autism (ASC), ADHD, or attachment difficulties would be highly advantageous.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS).

  • Have recent experience working with children or young people with additional needs, ideally SEMH.

  • Hold (or be willing to obtain) an Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service.
