About the role

This Local authority are looking for a SEND Functional Skills Tutor to support students based in Stockton-on-Tees. They are looking to appoint a passionate SEND Functional Skills Tutor to deliver core subjects one-to-one with students unable to attend education or needing support in a curriculum area. Working with this Local authority with an established team around the child, the desired SEND Functional Skills Tutor will work one-to-one with pupils with SEND or who are Looked After. Sessions can range from 1 - 5 hours per day depending on the students' needs. The SEND Functional Skills Tutor role is long term to offer consistency for the students.

About the school

Tuition sessions can be requested by local authorities, mainstream schools or alternative provisions, with sessions usually taking place off site in community venues such as:

  • Libraries,
  • Residential homes
  • Schools
  • The family home (providing an appropriate adult is present)

Requirements

To be considered for the role of SEND Functional Skills Tutor you will:
  • Experience of building positive relationships with students
  • Experience of working with students with SEND
  • The ability to deliver Maths & English sessions
  • A passion for the progress of students struggling to engage with education
  • An ability to work with different professionals to support the student (e.g. social workers, educational psychologists)

Salary

£20 to £30 per hour

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
