About the role

SEN Teaching Assistant - Newport

Vision for Education is looking for a caring, motivated, and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive ALN School in Newport. This rewarding role offers the chance to support pupils aged 3 to 16 with additional learning needs (ALN) and to make a meaningful impact on their learning, confidence, and overall wellbeing.

If you are passionate about helping children and young people thrive—especially those with ALN or behavioural challenges—this could be the perfect next step in your education or support career.

Is this the right role for you?

• Have you worked in education, care, or a support-based role before?
• Do you have experience supporting pupils with ALN or behavioural difficulties?
• Are you looking for a term-time position, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm?
• Would you like to earn between £88.92 and £101.92 per day?

If so, we would love to hear from you.

About the role

As a SEN Teaching Assistant in this inclusive ALN School, you will provide targeted support for pupils aged 3 to 16 with a range of additional learning needs, both in mainstream classrooms and in designated ALN settings.

This is a varied and highly rewarding role where you will help pupils feel confident, supported, and fully included in school life every day.

Your key responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with ALN
• Encourage independence and assist with personal care when required
• Support positive behaviour using consistent, tailored strategies for ALN pupils
• Help prepare learning resources and support classroom delivery
• Work closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to support pupil progress
• Promote an inclusive, safe, and respectful learning environment

Who we’re looking for

• Experience working with children or young people, ideally in education or care
• A calm, patient, and flexible individual with a genuine passion for supporting ALN pupils
• Knowledge of ALN or a strong interest in developing inclusive practice
• Confidence in managing behaviour in a positive and nurturing way
• A team player with excellent communication skills
• Driving licence and access to transport is helpful but not essential

What Vision for Education offers

• Daily pay between £88.92 and £101.92, paid weekly via PAYE
• Free access to training and CPD opportunities, including ALN-focused development
• £125 Refer-a-Friend bonus
• Ongoing support from a dedicated education consultant
• Easy-to-use app to manage your availability and timesheets
• Automatic enrolment in a workplace pension scheme

Why become a SEN Teaching Assistant?

This role is more than just classroom support. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be a valued member of an ALN school community, helping children and young people overcome barriers, build confidence, and achieve their potential. Every day offers the chance to make a real difference in the lives of pupils aged 3 to 16 with ALN.

Whether you are experienced or starting your journey in education, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a school that invests in its staff and prioritises inclusion and care.

If you are ready to take on a fulfilling and rewarding challenge in Newport, apply today and start your journey as a SEN Teaching Assistant.
