SEN Teaching Assistant – Salisbury – Full-Time

Are you passionate about helping children with additional needs thrive? We’re looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming specialist school in Salisbury, supporting pupils aged 4 to 19 with a range of needs.

The Role

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis within the classroom.

  • Assist children with learning, communication, and emotional regulation.

  • Help implement personalised learning and behaviour plans.

  • Provide personal care and mobility support when required (training provided).

  • Encourage positive behaviour and engagement with learning.

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students and staff alike.

About the School

  • Supportive, inclusive SEN school environment for pupils aged 4–19.

  • Small class sizes and tailored teaching approaches.

  • Focus on emotional wellbeing, life skills, and independence.

  • On-site access to therapeutic support and specialist facilities.

  • Easily accessible from Wilton, Laverstock, Amesbury, and surrounding areas.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should:

  • Be patient, calm, and empathetic.

  • Be open to learning and passionate about supporting young people.

  • Be comfortable working with pupils who have additional or complex needs.

  • Be willing to assist with personal care and moving & handling.

  • Be able to build rapport and help pupils feel safe and supported.

Experience in education, care, or SEN settings is beneficial but not essential — your attitude, commitment, and willingness to learn are what matter most.
A driving licence is desirable due to the school’s location.
