About the role & school

Vision for Education is currently recruiting on behalf of a specialist school that supports children and young people with SEMH needs and other additional needs. The school is dedicated to creating a safe, nurturing environment where students who may have struggled in mainstream settings can rebuild confidence and re-engage with learning.

The school takes a relationship-led and restorative approach, using positive reinforcement and structured support to help students develop both academically and emotionally. The team is highly supportive and committed to providing regular CPD and professional development, ensuring staff feel confident and well-equipped to meet the needs of their learners.

The Role

We are seeking a passionate and resilient Teacher who is committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of Primary aged students with SEMH needs. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping students reconnect with education, build positive relationships, and develop the skills needed to succeed both in and beyond the classroom.

This role would suit someone who understands that behaviour is often a form of communication and who can respond with patience, consistency, and empathy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual student needs.
  • Create a safe, supportive, and structured classroom environment.
  • Use positive reinforcement strategies to promote engagement and positive behaviour.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to support their emotional and academic development.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, pastoral staff, and the wider support team.
  • Monitor student progress and contribute to individual learning or support plans.
  • Support students in developing confidence, resilience, and social skills.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of SEN Teacher you will:

  • QTS/QTLS
  • Experience of working with Primary school aged children.
  • Experience of working with pupils with SEND.
  • Experience working with children with SEMH needs.
  • An ability to work as part of a team.
  • Strong behaviour management and relationship building skills

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:

  • QTS/QTLS

Vision for Education is committed to safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults. We take our responsibilities extremely seriously. All staff we register will undertake thorough interviewing and referencing checks and hold, or be prepared to undergo, an Enhanced DBS check that must be registered on the Update Service.
