Vision for Education has a vacancy for a Residential Support Worker for a school setting outside of Preston on a full-time basis, starting ASAP. The role is a temporary to permanent vacancy.

About the role

The successful Residential Support Worker will offer stability and safety by ensuring that the home is warm, friendly, and comfortable. Requirements of the role will be:

  • To provide a caring, supportive and nurturing environment in which children young people can feel secure and free from harm.

  • Establishing positive relationships with young people and always offering them unconditional and positive regard.

  • Helping young people gain self control by challenging unacceptable behaviour and rewarding acceptable, pro-social conduct.

  • Attending to practical matters in relation to childcare cooking, cleaning, general maintenance around the home etc.

  • To act as a key worker or co-worker for a young person to ensure that the young persons care plans are up to date and that all their care needs are being met.

The hours of work for the Residential Support Worker will be 12 hour shifts between 8am-8pm, 4 days a week one week and then 3 days a week the next or on the opposing team working 8pm-8am on the same schedule.

Full training will be provided.

The setting offers residential provision for students with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).

They are also supported by services, which focus on assessment and treatment for behaviour stabilisation. They adopt a person-centred approach, delivered by caring, supportive and outcome-driven staff. They understand the importance of place and as such they endeavour to create an environment that is welcoming, modern and empathetic.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of Residential Support Worker you will:
  • A great deal of drive, patience and resilience.
  • Be proactive and empathetic in your approach, always aiming to achieve the best possible outcomes for the students you work with.
  • Be an excellent communicator, able to work well as part of a wider team.
  • An engaging personality, allowing you to form non-judgmental relationships.
  • Ideally have experience working with children with autism.

Salary

£10 to £12 per hour

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
  • A level 2 in child care qualification or equivalent.
  • To have recent experience in a residential child care setting within the last year.
