Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant - Cwmbran

Are you a psychology graduate looking to begin a rewarding and meaningful career in education? Vision for Education is seeking a motivated and compassionate Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to work across primary and specialist schools in Cwmbran. This role offers valuable hands-on experience while supporting children’s learning, emotional wellbeing and behavioural development.

In this position, you will support pupils with a range of additional learning needs, including autism, ADHD, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. You will work on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping learners to remain engaged, develop emotional regulation, manage behaviour and build positive relationships within a supportive and inclusive school environment.

This opportunity is ideal for psychology graduates who wish to gain practical experience before progressing into careers such as teaching, educational psychology, counselling, mental health support or therapy. You will apply your knowledge of child development, behaviour and wellbeing in a real-world setting, making a genuine difference to pupils’ lives.

What we’re looking for

To succeed as a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you should:

• Hold a degree in Psychology or a related subject
• Have a strong interest in supporting children with additional learning, behavioural or mental health needs
• Demonstrate empathy, patience and effective communication skills
• Be proactive, resilient and adaptable within a school environment
• Work well alongside teachers, SENCOs and wider support teams
• Be reliable, enthusiastic and committed to inclusive education

• Full-time, term-time hours (8:30am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday)
