Primary Support Assistant
Cirencester
Full Time | Part Time | Term Time Only
A friendly and supportive primary school in the Cirencester area is looking for a dedicated Primary Support Assistant to join their team. This role is all about helping children who need a little extra support to feel settled, confident and ready to learn.
You’ll be working both one-to-one and with small groups, supporting pupils with a range of needs including SEND, SEMH, autism and ADHD. Your role will be key in helping them stay engaged, manage emotions and build confidence throughout the school day.
You’ll be part of a close-knit team, working alongside experienced teachers and SEN staff to provide consistent, tailored support in a positive classroom environment.
What you’ll be doing
• Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
• Helping children manage behaviour, emotions and routines
• Supporting learning across a range of subjects
• Building confidence, independence and engagement
• Working closely with teaching and SEN staff to adjust support where needed
What we’re looking for
• A calm, patient and reliable approach
• Someone who can build strong, trusting relationships with children
• Experience with SEND, SEMH or behaviour support is helpful but not essential
• Backgrounds in education, care, youth work or coaching are all welcome
• Confidence working with children who may find school challenging
• Strong communication skills and a team-focused attitude
• A genuine commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
Role details
• Full-time, term time only (part-time considered)
• Based in Cirencester
• Primary school setting
• Long-term role with potential to become permanent
