We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager who will be responsible for management the weekly payroll and billing function. Working with the Head of Finance, this is an exciting opportunity to join a leading education recruitment provider.

We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Payroll Manager who will be responsible for the effective management of a weekly payroll and billing function. This will be expanded to include monthly (internal) payroll as the role develops and becomes established.
Working with the Head of Finance the Payroll Manager will ensure the payroll function provides an efficient and effective service to internal and external stakeholders.
The right person must be able to lead, develop and motivate individuals within the payroll team. The role will involve liaising with staff across all levels of the organisation including centrally employed, candidates and school based staff.
They will be responsible for compliance of HMRC and Payroll & Pension regulations/legislation ensuring that internal policies and procedures are effective and compliant.
Responsibilities will include:
- Responsible for the efficient facilitation of a weekly payroll and billing function
- Effective leadership of a Payroll team including performance management and development
- Management of year end procedures and timelines ensuring deadlines are met
- To ensure compliance of HMRC and Payroll & Pension regulations/legislation
- Overall responsibility for candidate to client invoicing
- Development and maintenance of relationships with internal staff and branches
- Resolution of payroll production issues – problem solving
- Communication of relevant information within team and wider organisation
- Monthly (internal) payroll responsibility will be added once role is established
- Keeping abreast of tax legislation changes/HMRC interpretations and updating the team and colleagues as appropriate.
Requirements
- A relevant payroll qualification and a high level of experience and skills, including a strong understanding of setting up and maintaining payroll systems
- High level leadership, decision-making, and organisational functionality
- Work to strict deadlines to ensure wages are paid accurately and on time
- Attention to detail and multi-tasking abilities
- Good standard of verbal and written communication
- Previous experience of RSM InPay advantageous
- Extensive knowledge of HMRC and Payroll & Pension regulations/legislation
- Must be able to exercise discretion in all aspects of the role (confidentiality is key)
- A background working for a recruitment company would be helpful to this role
- Previous experience in this type of pay and bill scenario advantageous (training will be given)
- Technical competence - Confidence in using Excel, Word and Outlook
- Previous line management experience including first level HR responsibilities
- Risk assessment, problem analysis, problem-solving and decision making skills
