About the role

SEN & Primary Learning Support Assistant - Newport

Vision for Education is seeking a caring, motivated, and enthusiastic SEN & Primary Learning Support Assistant to join a friendly and inclusive primary school in Newport. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to support pupils aged 3 to 11, particularly those with additional learning needs (ALN), and play a key part in creating a positive, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.

If you’re passionate about helping children thrive- especially those with ALN or behavioural challenges-this could be the perfect next step in your education or support career.

Is this the right role for you?

Have you previously worked in education, care, or a support-based role?
Do you have experience supporting children with ALN or behavioural difficulties?
Are you looking for a term-time position, Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 3.30pm?
Would you like to earn between £88.92 and £101.92 per day?

If the answer is yes, we’d love to hear from you.

About the role

As a SEN & Primary Learning Support Assistant in this welcoming school, you’ll work across the Foundation Phase and Key Stage 2. You will provide targeted support for pupils with a range of additional learning needs, both in mainstream classrooms and within designated ALN settings.

This is a varied and highly rewarding position where you’ll play a vital role in helping pupils feel confident, supported, and fully included in school life every day.

Your key responsibilities

Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with ALN
Encourage pupil independence and support with personal care where required
Assist in managing behaviour using consistent, positive strategies tailored to ALN pupils
Help prepare learning resources and support classroom delivery
Work closely with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals to support pupil development
Promote an inclusive, safe, and respectful learning environment

Who we’re looking for

Someone with experience working with children or young people, ideally in education or care
A calm, patient, and flexible individual with a genuine passion for supporting ALN pupils
Knowledge of ALN or a strong interest in developing inclusive practice
Confidence in managing behaviour in a positive and nurturing way
A strong team player with good communication skills
A driving licence and access to transport is helpful but not essential

What Vision for Education offers

Daily pay between £88.92 and £101.92, paid weekly via PAYE
Free access to training and CPD opportunities to support your development, including ALN-focused training
£125 Refer-a-Friend bonus
Ongoing support from a dedicated education consultant who understands your goals
Easy-to-use app to manage your availability and timesheets
Automatic enrolment in a workplace pension scheme
