About the role

Learning Support Assistant (LSA)

We’re looking for a caring and reliable Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a specialist SEN school in Somerset. This role would suit someone who genuinely enjoys helping children with additional needs and wants to make a real difference every day.

The Role – Learning Support Assistant (LSA)

As an LSA, you’ll be working closely with pupils aged 4–19, supporting them both in the classroom and around the school. Your role will involve:

  • Providing 1:1 LSA support and small-group help to keep pupils engaged and progressing.
  • Working with children who may have ASD, communication needs, sensory needs, PMLD or physical difficulties.
  • Helping to create a calm, positive environment where pupils can learn at their own pace.
  • Supporting with personal care, feeding, and moving & handling when needed (training can be arranged).
  • Building consistent, trusting relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Working as part of a team that includes teachers, therapists and other LSAs.
  • Using visual aids, communication tools or Makaton where appropriate.

No two days are the same, but every day is rewarding.

About the School

The school provides a highly supportive, inclusive setting for children and young people with complex needs. As an LSA, you’ll benefit from:

  • Small class sizes with plenty of adult support.
  • A focus on communication, sensory learning and life skills.
  • Access to therapists and specialist staff who work closely with LSAs.
  • A team who work together to help every pupil grow in confidence and independence.

Requirements for the LSA Role

To be considered for this Learning Support Assistant position, you should:

  • Be patient, calm and able to adapt to different situations.
  • Have some experience supporting children or young people (formal or informal).
  • Be willing to support pupils with complex or additional needs, including personal care.
  • Be a good communicator and a supportive team member.
  • Preferably hold a DBS registered on the Update Service, or be happy to apply for one.
  • Be open to further training and development.

Salary

£89 – £100.00 per day, depending on experience.

What Vision for Education Offer

  • Weekly pay through PAYE.
  • Guaranteed Pay Scheme (where eligible).
  • Pension contributions.
  • Full AWR compliance.
  • Free CPD and LSA training opportunities.
  • A supportive consultant available whenever you need advice.
  • A generous refer-a-friend scheme.

All applicants will go through full safeguarding and compliance checks, including an Enhanced DBS.
