We’re looking for a caring and reliable Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a specialist SEN school in Bridgwater. This role would suit someone who genuinely enjoys helping children with additional needs and wants to make a real difference every day.
The Role – Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
As an LSA, you’ll be working closely with pupils aged 4–19, supporting them both in the classroom and around the school. Your role will involve:
- Providing 1:1 LSA support and small-group help to keep pupils engaged and progressing.
- Working with children who may have ASD, communication needs, sensory needs, PMLD or physical difficulties.
- Helping to create a calm, positive environment where pupils can learn at their own pace.
- Building consistent, trusting relationships with pupils and staff.
- Working as part of a team that includes teachers, therapists and other LSAs.
- Using visual aids, communication tools or Makaton where appropriate.
No two days are the same, but every day is rewarding.

Requirements for the LSA Role
To be considered for this Learning Support Assistant position, you should:
- Be patient, calm and able to adapt to different situations.
- Have some experience supporting children or young people (formal or informal).
- Be willing to support pupils with complex or additional needs, including personal care.
- Be a good communicator and a supportive team member.
- Preferably hold a DBS registered on the Update Service, or be happy to apply for one.
- Be open to further training and development.
Salary
£89 – £100.00 per day, depending on experience.
