The School: Vision For Education are working alongside and Alternative Provision Service for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to start a full-time role in September 2024. This AP is dedicated to providing high-quality education and support to students who require an alternative to mainstream schooling. Their mission is to create a nurturing and inclusive environment where every student can achieve their potential and develop the skills necessary for a successful future.
The Role: The role is for a motivated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join this dedicated team. The successful candidate will work closely with Teachers to support the learning and development of students, many of whom have additional needs or face challenges in mainstream education. This role requires a proactive and compassionate individual who is committed to making a positive impact on students' lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the planning and delivery of engaging lessons under the guidance of the classroom teacher.
- Work with small groups and individual students to provide targeted support and interventions.
- Assist in the assessment and monitoring of student progress.
- Develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs) for students with specific needs.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Provide classroom management and behavior support.
- Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies to support student well-being and progress.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and continuous professional development (CPD) opportunities.
- Undertake any additional duties as required to support the smooth running of the service.
Qualifications and Skills:
- HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
- A background/interest in PE would be advantageous
- Previous experience working in an educational setting, preferably with students who have additional needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- A positive, proactive, and flexible approach to working with children and young people.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
