About the Role

As an English Teacher, you will deliver engaging and high-quality English lessons in the absence of the regular teacher or as part of a longer-term placement. You will promote literacy, critical thinking, and a love of literature while maintaining high standards of behaviour and learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and potentially KS5)

• Encourage student engagement with reading, writing, and analysis

• Adapt teaching to meet the needs of all learners

• Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment

• Manage behaviour in line with school policies

• Assess and monitor student progress where required

• Provide feedback to teaching staff and departments

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (essential)

• Experience teaching English in UK secondary schools

• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to teach a range of texts, genres, and writing styles

• Flexibility and adaptability across different school environments
