The School and the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate GCSE English Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Wigan on a full-time, one term cover starting April 2026.

You’ll be teaching English across KS3 and KS4 (Years 7–11), delivering engaging, creative lessons that inspire confidence and performance skills. The school has well-motivated students, strong leadership support, and a clear commitment to professional development. English is valued within the curriculum, with opportunities to contribute to extracurricular activities if wanted.

You’ll be joining a dedicated and collaborative department, with access to good facilities, specialist resources, and free onsite parking.

Requirements (Please Apply Only If You Meet the Below)

To be considered for this Teacher of English role, you must:

• Hold QTS or a PGCE (UK-recognised teaching qualification)
• Have recent experience teaching GCSE English (Years 10 and 11)
• Be available full-time for a one term cover
• Demonstrate strong classroom management and the ability to motivate and inspire students of all abilities
• Have excellent communication and organisational skills
• Be able to provide suitable references, a valid Enhanced DBS (or be willing to apply), and Right to Work in the UK
