Immediate and September Start (Long-Term Role)

The School and Role
Vision for Education is seeking to appoint a Creative Arts Assistant to work across a cluster of supportive schools in the Cwmbran area. The role involves supporting young people with a range of needs including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), autism, and other additional learning needs (ALN).

As a Creative Arts Assistant, you will work in both primary and specialist ALN settings, using creative approaches to engage pupils, encourage self-expression, and promote emotional wellbeing. This Creative Arts Assistant role is ideal for someone passionate about using the arts to support learning and development in an inclusive educational environment.

The successful Creative Arts Assistant will need to be adaptable, calm under pressure, and confident supporting learners in varied classroom settings. Creativity, patience and excellent communication skills are key to building strong relationships with pupils and staff alike.

Requirements
The desired Creative Arts Assistant will have:

  • Experience working with primary and/or secondary school pupils

  • A background supporting children with additional learning needs including SEMH and autism

  • A passion for helping children develop both academically and emotionally

  • An approachable and resilient personality with the ability to build rapport quickly

  • An ability to work effectively as part of a team

Desirable (not essential):

  • Experience in creative subjects such as art, drama, or music therapy

  • Experience working in ALN bases or alternative provision settings
