Vision for Education are currently looking for a committed Alternative Provision Tutor to work on a 1:1 basis with young people that will display a wide range of complex barriers to education. This can include permanent exclusion, risk of exclusion or social, emotional, and mental health needs.

About the Role

The successful Alternative Provision Tutor will be responsible for the educational development of a cohort of young people that can range between Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 4. These young people may be a Looked After Child and/ or have an EHCP.

Responsibilities

  • You will need to plan and deliver tailored tuition to ensure the young person you are supporting gets the most from their time in education
  • You will need to have the ability to be adaptable and think on your feet in order to maintain focus and provide motivation
  • You will be required to complete weekly reports of student’s engagement, attainment, and weekly attendance.
  • Liaising with multi agencies may be needed which could include a young person’s school, social worker, or family member.

About the school

Tuition sessions can range from one – five hours per day (within and outside of school hours) depending on the student’s timetable and capabilities.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of Alternative Provision Tutor you will:
  • Have an excellent understanding of the national curriculum and be able to support students of different abilities and ages.
  • Have relevant experience of instructing or teaching young people in a classroom environment.
  • Have experience of implementing a variety of de-escalation strategies in challenging situations involving young people.
  • Be able to work in the Stockport area.

Salary

£27 to £27 per hour

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
  • A teaching qualification is required (QTS / QTLS is desired)
