Your Role as an ALN Teaching Assistant in Newport

In this position, you will play a vital role in supporting learners with Additional Learning Needs (ALN). Working alongside experienced teaching staff, you’ll help create a positive and engaging learning atmosphere tailored to each pupil’s individual needs.

You’ll be supporting children with:

• Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
• Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
• Speech and language difficulties
• PMLD and complex needs

Key Duties

• Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group support for pupils with ALN
• Assist in classroom activities, lesson preparation, and behaviour management
• Encourage student independence, confidence, and social development
• Follow Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and safeguarding policies
• Provide personal care where necessary

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with ALN (PMLD experience advantageous)
• A patient, resilient, and proactive attitude
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
• Relevant TA or ALN qualifications are beneficial but not essential
