Vision for Education is seeking a caring, motivated, and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive ALN school in Newport. About the role
As a SEN Teaching Assistant in this inclusive ALN school, you will support pupils aged 3 to 16 with a range of additional learning needs. Support may be delivered in mainstream classrooms or specialist ALN settings, depending on pupil needs.
This is a varied and fulfilling role where you will help pupils feel safe, confident, and fully included in their education.
Your key responsibilities
• Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with ALN
• Encourage independence and support personal care where required
• Promote positive behaviour through consistent and appropriate strategies
• Assist with lesson preparation and classroom activities
• Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment
Who we’re looking for
• Experience working with children or young people, ideally within education or care
• A patient, calm, and adaptable approach to supporting ALN pupils
• An understanding of additional learning needs or a strong interest in inclusive education
• Confidence in supporting behaviour positively and consistently
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
• A driving licence and access to transport is beneficial but not essential
