Additional Learning Needs Teaching Assistant (Full Time / Part Time)

£88.92 – £101.92 per day (daily rate dependent on experience and/or qualifications)
The role
Vision for Education is working closely with schools across Newport to recruit Additional Learning Needs (ALN) Teaching Assistants to support pupils with a variety of additional learning needs. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about inclusive education and want to make a positive impact in the classroom.
You will be supporting pupils aged 3–16, including children and young people with autism, who require additional help to access learning. Support may be provided on a 1:1 basis or in small groups. Working alongside class teachers and the ALNCo, you will help pupils develop academically, socially and emotionally. You may also assist with individual learning plans and tailored support strategies to help pupils feel confident and engaged at school.
This position offers valuable experience within ALN and SEN education and is well suited to those looking to progress their career in education or support roles.
Requirements
The desired ALN Teaching Assistant will have:
Previous experience supporting pupils with Additional Learning Needs or SEN, including autism (desirable but not essential)
A calm, patient and understanding approach to learning support
Good communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to work independently and as part of a school team
A genuine interest in supporting pupils to reach their full potential
Knowledge or experience of autism, ADHD, dyslexia or similar learning needs (beneficial)
An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one (support available)
Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC), or willingness to register
