Learning Support Assistant

About the role

Job Advert: SEN Learning Support Assistant – Purfleet

Position: SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
Location: Purfleet
Contract: Full-time, term-time only
Start Date: January

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and proactive SEN Learning Support Assistant to join our supportive team in Purfleet. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping children with Special Educational Needs reach their full potential, both academically and socially.

As an SEN LSA, you will work closely with teaching staff and the school’s inclusion team to provide high-quality support to pupils with a range of needs. You will play a key role in creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where every child can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with a variety of SEN needs (e.g., ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties).

  • Help implement personalised learning plans and behaviour strategies.

  • Support pupils in accessing the curriculum and developing confidence, independence, and positive relationships.

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals.

  • Maintain accurate records of progress and contribute to review meetings.

  • Promote the school’s vision of inclusion, wellbeing, and high aspirations for all learners.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with children with SEN (school-based experience preferred).

  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient individual with excellent communication skills.

  • Someone who can use initiative, adapt to the needs of pupils, and build positive relationships.

  • A commitment to supporting children’s emotional, social, and educational development.

  • Relevant training or qualifications (desirable but not essential).

What We Offer

  • A friendly, welcoming school community with a strong inclusive ethos.

  • Ongoing professional development and training.

  • Supportive leadership and an experienced SEN team.

  • The opportunity to make a real difference in children’s lives every day.

How to Apply

Please submit your CV and a brief supporting statement outlining your experience and suitability for the role. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and early applications are encouraged.
