This is a unique chance to train within a specialist provision supporting autistic pupils aged 3–19 with additional learning, communication, and sensory needs. As an N-TAP trainee, you will work closely with experienced teachers, therapists, and behaviour specialists while completing structured training that leads toward Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
What You’ll Be Doing

Supporting the planning and delivery of personalised, autism-specific learning programmes

Working in small classes with high staff-to-pupil ratios

Developing skills in specialist approaches such as TEACCH, PECS, and sensory-based strategies

Supporting pupils’ communication, emotional regulation, and independence
-
Assisting with assessment, recording, and EHCP-linked learning goals

Building strong relationships with pupils, families, and the wider multi-disciplinary team
Ideal Candidate

Graduates or career-changers passionate about SEND and education
-
Experience (paid or voluntary) with children, young people, or adults with autism or additional needs is desirable but not essential

A positive, calm, and resilient attitude

A commitment to inclusive practice and pupil-centred learning

Enthusiasm to learn, grow, and develop as a future SEND teacher
