Sutton House School in Southend is seeking a committed and compassionate English Teacher to join our team. Sutton House School supports children and young people with additional educational needs, and this role is ideal for a teacher who is passionate about inclusive education and adapting learning to meet individual needs.
About Our Pupils:
Our students may present with a range of needs including SEND, SEMH, communication difficulties, and social or emotional challenges. Many benefit from a calm, structured approach and positive, nurturing relationships to help them engage successfully with learning.
⭐Key Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver engaging English lessons tailored to meet a range of individual learning needs

Adapt teaching strategies to support students with SEND and SEMH

Create a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment

Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to support engagement and progress
-
Assess, track, and report on student progress using appropriate methods
-
Work collaboratively with support staff, SENCo, and pastoral teams
-
Support students’ literacy development, confidence, and emotional wellbeing
❤️The Ideal Candidate Will:

Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
-
Have experience working with pupils with additional needs (desirable but not essential)

Be patient, flexible, and resilient

Have strong behaviour management skills grounded in positive practice

Be committed to safeguarding and inclusive education

Be reflective, nurturing, and child-centred in their approach
