Sutton House School in Southend is seeking a committed and compassionate English Teacher to join our team. Sutton House School supports children and young people with additional educational needs, and this role is ideal for a teacher who is passionate about inclusive education and adapting learning to meet individual needs.

About Our Pupils:

Our students may present with a range of needs including SEND, SEMH, communication difficulties, and social or emotional challenges. Many benefit from a calm, structured approach and positive, nurturing relationships to help them engage successfully with learning.

⭐Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons tailored to meet a range of individual learning needs

  • Adapt teaching strategies to support students with SEND and SEMH

  • Create a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to support engagement and progress

  • Assess, track, and report on student progress using appropriate methods

  • Work collaboratively with support staff, SENCo, and pastoral teams

  • Support students’ literacy development, confidence, and emotional wellbeing

❤️The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

  • Have experience working with pupils with additional needs (desirable but not essential)

  • Be patient, flexible, and resilient

  • Have strong behaviour management skills grounded in positive practice

  • Be committed to safeguarding and inclusive education

  • Be reflective, nurturing, and child-centred in their approach
