1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Southend

Location: Southend-on-Sea, Essex
Position: 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant (Full-Time)

Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs? A friendly and inclusive primary school in Southend is seeking a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated support to a pupil with special educational needs.

About the Role:

You will work closely with a pupil on a 1:1 basis, offering consistent academic, emotional, and behavioural support. The role requires patience, empathy, and a flexible approach to help the child engage with learning and feel confident in the school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualised support to a child with SEN (e.g., autism, SEMH, or communication needs)

• Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCO, and external professionals

• Adapt learning resources to meet the pupil’s specific needs

• Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning space

• Monitor progress and contribute to regular reviews and meetings

The Ideal Candidate Will:

• Have experience supporting children with SEN in a school or similar setting

• Be patient, nurturing, and reliable

• Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Be confident in using behaviour support strategies

• Hold a relevant TA or SEN qualification (desirable but not essential)
