About the Role

Vision for Education is working in partnership with a supportive and inclusive primary school in Colchester to appoint a 1:1 SEN Learning Support Assistant. The role involves providing dedicated support to a pupil with Special Educational Needs, helping them to access learning and develop socially and emotionally in a positive school environment.

This position is ideal for a caring, patient, and committed individual who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with SEN (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or learning difficulties)

• Support learning, engagement, and emotional regulation throughout the school day

• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and wider support staff

• Implement agreed strategies to promote independence and positive behaviour

• Support with classroom routines, transitions, and inclusion

• Maintain safeguarding and child protection standards at all times

Requirements

• Experience working with children or young people with SEN (school, nursery, or care setting)

• A calm, nurturing, and proactive approach

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

• Right to work in the UK
